POSTCARD AGE:
circa 1907 - 1918
DESCRIPTION:
This RARE, likely one-of-a-kind Real Photo postcard offers a black-and-white image of a young man sitting on what appears to be a 1909 Curtiss motorcycle! The front fork is re-inforced, so this particular Curtiss may date to a couple years later. A Curtiss motorcycle similar to the one shown in this photograph recently sold at auction for 0,000, and finding a period photograph and postcard of such a rare motorcycle is incredible. The Curtiss name is most commonly associated with the aviation industry, and many of the airplanes in the service of the U.S. Army, the U. S. Army Air Services and U.S. Air Corps in World War I and World War II bore the Curtiss trademark. Upon inspection with a magnifying loupe, the Curtiss name appears on the side of the gas tank. Unfortunately, the man is not identified on the back of the card. His age is identified on the back as "22 yrs old". This is an original, vintage, black and white photograph postcard. A nice addition to your vintage photograph, photography, Real Photo postcard / RPPC or Curtiss motorcycle memorabilia collection!
