”This book contains photographs of 531 old English ABC plates, two pages of groups of plates in color and 260 photographs of various other ABC plates and things – mugs, glass, tin, other china, lithographed and assorted items.  Most of the ABC plates were an export item from England to the United States.  At the time they were manufactured they were considered rather ordinary and inexpensive and the records on them have virtually disappeared.  Finding little information themselves, the authors decided a book on their collection would be of some help to present and future collectors because interest in ABC plates has increased dramatically over the past five to ten years.”   There’s a wealth of information in this reference which would assist the collector, dealer, or historian of old English Staffordshire plates, children’s toy dishes, novelty items and more.
