Eric Tabarly's Pen Duick Sailboat 24" Wood Model Yacht AssembledThis highly detailed, museum quality, intermediate level, sailboat model is Brand New, fully assembled and ready for display (not a kit). All that is required is that the mast is raised. A moderate skill level is required to raise the mast and adjust the rigging. This Sailboat Yacht Model was specially designed & built by the plank on frame method (joining multiple small pieces of exotic tropical wood together on the hull). The Sailboat Model is built exactly to scale as the original Pen Duick was with many details. The task required skillful craftsmen hundreds of hours to accomplish.
The Pen Duick model sailboat has been coated with many coats of varnish to achieve a mirror finish. Included is a brass name plate. The Pen Duick a regatta cutter built in 1898, was one of the most beautiful sailing boats. She was abandoned after running aground in the muddy flats of the Loire. The legendary sailor, Eric Tabarly, who rescued and lovingly restored her was lost overboard off the southeast coast of Wales on the stormy night of June 12, 1998, the same year that PEN DUICK reached its hundredth birthday. The model measures 24" long from bow to stern. It's a fabulous Yacht Model that will be a conversation piece for any room, office or yacht club.
