Heathkit GC-1A Mohican

Description

Here is a vintage Heathkit GC-1A "Mohican" general coverage receiver.
It was Heath's first all solid state general coverage receiver and was fairly high performance and full featured when it came out in the early sixties.
It covers .5 through 30 megahertz and has band spread coverage of the 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meter ham bands.
It is designed to receive AM as well as CW and SSB with the switchable BFO circuitry.
This one is in very good physical and cosmetic condition with good paint and crisp lettering, original knobs and a fully functional large telescoping antenna. The removable battery compartment is in great shape with no signs of battery corrosion.
It is just barely working in that I can hear a little audio output. It needs a good cleaning and alignment and I am not sure if all the stages are working properly. The band spread tuning is not working as the dial needs to be re-strung. However, an original manual is included and it shows how to do this in detail.
As mentioned above, included is an original manual that is in excellent condition.
Because of it's age and possible parts swapping (most of the transistors are socket mounted) it is being sold as-is- no returns.
It is fairly heavy at 20 lbs. but will be carefully packed.
