On this listing we offer the
"bitStork MOD780LCD" kit
, which allows to repair your beloved ICOM IC-780 or IC-781 transceiver. It replaces the original heavy CRT display (see the last picture showing the original IC-780 radio's "burned-out" display, without any signal attached!!!).
This listing includes:
A "bitStork MOD780LCD" LCD screen ADAPTER - Metal Shield-Box (LCD holder/protection & anti-noise cover) with mounting handles,
A new LCD display - a replacement for the IC-780 (or IC-781) with White-On-Black colors,

onnection cables with signal plug and power pin (
T
ransceiver 12V power and signal to the LCD
)
Electronic copy (pdf document) of "Step-By-Step" repair manual (photo-history of the real IC-780 LCD modification).
The Metal Shield Box can be fixed with three original PCB screws from the IC-78x Front Panel (see special mounting handles on the pictures).
The ICOM IC-780 radio (shown on pictures) is NOT the part of this auction (it shows the operation of the customer's repaired IC-780)!

It should also be noted that ICOM used similar CRT display in their IC-R9000 receivers.
You can try to install this kit on your own risk (we know about three IC-R9000 successful installations).

Installation notes:
The MOD780LCD modification is a relatively easy fix. It can be installed without soldering equipment/experience. A set of screwdrivers should be enough to install this LCD kit. All details are described in the modification manual (pdf file), which will be send to your email address after the purchase (actually at the day of shipping the LCD kit).
