    This pamphlet is the first of two articles titled The American Worker published in 1947 by Facing Reality written. It was written by Phil Singer who worked in an East Coast General Motors plant. Singer described the plant physical organization and social relations that were still operative when the article was republished in this pamphlet 22 years later.
