Plat books can be an aid to genealogists for following land ownership in families and locating the names of neighbors of ancestors. Plat books contain maps of each township with land parcels outlined with the name of the land owner and acreage of parcel. Also the maps will list cemeteries, schools and roads. There are also maps of the towns but lot ownership is not shown.
Tazewell county is in central Illinois and is surrounded by Mason, Fulton, Peoria, Woodford, McLean and Logan counties. The county seat is Pekin. Other towns are Armington, Delavan, East Peoria, Green Valley, Groveland, Mackinaw, Minier, Morton and Washington.
