Description

the pair
i can find no issues. these have either been stored or displayed, though never used for food. really cute pattern tiffany's did in the late 1990s as an ode to the five little piggies (you can read more on that below). they are made in japan. they tell a partial story, with the plate depicting the most robust market (one i would love to go to!):
plate
this little piggy went to market
this little piggy stayed home
bowl
this little piggy had roast beef
this little piggy had none (and both he and the kitty look sad for that)
children's dishes are so sweet and a nice little amount of innocence in a context of, well, everything else.
dimensions
plate: diameter: 7". rim is about an 1" away from the surfacre on which the plate rests... though the plate gently slopes inward, which is great for containing food moved around by lesser practiced hands.
bowl: outside rim diameter is 6 1/2". inside rim diameter is 6" (quite thick the walls are). the dish is 1 1/2" tall.
both have identical marks (see last image)

about the nursery rhyme «this little piggy»
(from: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Little_Piggy)
nursery rhyme
published 1760
write: unknown «this little piggy» or «this little pig» is an english-language nursery rhyme and fingerplay, or, technically, toeplay. it has a roud folk song index number of 19297.
the most common modern version is:
this little piggy went to market,
this little piggy stayed home,
this little piggy had roast beef,
this little piggy had none,
and this little piggy cried «wee wee wee» all the way home.
«... this little piggy had roast beef...»
the rhyme is usually counted out on an infant or toddler's toes, each line corresponding to a different toe, usually starting with the big toe and ending with the little toe. a foot tickle is added during the «wee...all the way home» section of the last line. the rhyme can also be seen as a counting rhyme, although the number of each toe (from one for the big toe to five for the little toe) is never stated.
origins
in 1728, the first line of the rhyme appeared in a medley called «the nurses song». the first known full version was recorded in the famous tommy thumb's
little story-book
, published in london about 1760. in this book, the rhyme goes:
this pig went to market,
that pig stayed home;
this pig had roast meat,
that pig had none;
this pig went to the barn's door,
and cried week, week for more.
the full rhyme continued to appear, with slight variations, in many late 18th- and early 19th-century collections. until the mid-20th century, the lines referred to «little pigs».

the fine print
the images serve as the majority of the listing description, so take a look at them closely.
shipping costs have really increased—this is calculated into the buy-it-now price.
i am not able to sell individual items from items i have listed as a group. i just don't have the stamina to create new listings for those. i apologize for that. i haven't initially individually listed items because i don't have enough listing slots to so.
trying to downsize some, though extremely melancholically.
shipping time: i otherwise work more than full time and my health isn't great, so kindly excuse the longer handling time. if i am able to ship sooner, i absolutely will do that
. i appreciate you taking the time to view my listing.
