This is so neat! I had to research to find out what this was used for. Before we used microwaves, parents used to pour hot water into the metal base of this dish. There is a screw on cap and the metal base is hollow. The nursery rhyme themed bowl is built in to the base and would warm up any baby food or warm cereal safely for baby. I’m pretty sure this was used for parent spoon feeding the child and not given to the child to self feed, as the base would probably be the same heat as the water.
The ceramic bowl features a nostalgic nursery rhyme illustration Little Polly Flinders. The bowl is crazed under the enamel, probably caused by heat and use.
The metal base is in excellent condition with no noticeable dents. Minor scratches consistent with age and use. The screw on cap is present and both handles are intact.
This would be a cute display item in a nursery or in a vintage collection. I love this piece!
