"ONLY A THIMBLE FULL" STERLING SILVER SHOT MEASURE IN FORM OF A THIMBLE

Description

Sterling silver shot measurer or jigger in the form of a thimble and impressed "Only A Thimble Full", and hand engraved "L.E.S." ,both on the upper open face band.  The piece weighs 1.31 troy ounces and measures 1 3/4 inches in diameter at the opening and 2 inches high.  The cup is not marked but has been tested and is guaranteed to be of solid sterling silver; it seems likely that a manufacturer and sterling mark was removed in the area where the monogram initials have been placed.  There is one tiny black tarnish spot on the base or dimpled crown of the "thimble", and a 1/4 inch long shallow vertical cut at the inner lip of the measure, otherwise in very good vintage condition (we have managed to take a very clear picture, in two of our photos, of a very dark piece of lint or dirt resting inside at the bottom of the measure near the sidewall at about the 1 o'clock position - it blew away as the listing was being written up and is no longer present) .
